Spring Message

March 1, 2019

Dear Parents/Guardians;

Since returning in January there have lots of exciting things happening at Fairview School.  Most recently we have the addition of new furniture to our Learning Commons. Below are pictures of the new furniture for our Learning Commons.  Thank you to the Fairview Parent Advisory Council for supporting us in the purchase of this new furniture.

Our Parent Advisory Council needs your support and will be hosting a meeting on March 5, 2019 in the School Library.  This meeting is to update their bylaws.  Please see the information poster on the school website.

Parent Council will be hosting a variety of fundraising events throughout the remainder of the year.  Their next Fun Lunch will be held on Friday, March 15th.  Information regarding how to sign up will be sent out via school messenger and posted on the school website.  Also, they will be hosting a Spring Blooms fundraiser.  Again information will be posted once available.

We would like to thank parents for being diligent in calling in for student absences or lates and in sending notes for when students are leaving early.  Our front office staff certainly appreciate your efforts.

Parent-Student-Teacher Interviews will be taking place March 20 – 22, 2019.  Conference Manager for appointment bookings will open on Friday, March 8th at 6pm and close on Monday, March 11th at 6pm.  Information regarding booking procedures will go out to parents/guardians through School Messenger.

We are hoping that the cold weather will soon be behind us however, we would appreciate families talking to their children about appropriate school behaviour.  With the cold weather we have seen an increase in running in the halls, students trying to access non-lunch time spaces and being disrespectful to staff when asked to change their behaviour.  Continued inappropriate behaviour will result in individuals or classes losing their casual day privileges.  Currently our GRADE 9’s have lost the privilege to dress casual on Friday, March 8th.  GRADE 9’s will be required to wear their informal TLC uniform on that day.

Parent Volunteers are required for the many field trips that we offer to students.  In the event that we do not have enough volunteers and our student supervision does not meet CBE requirements we will be forced to cancel these trips.  Please volunteer!

Spring break is March 23-31, 2019.  When students return on April 1, 2019 we will be hosting our annual Eagle Pride Week.  There will be house league events planned for every noon-hour this week and a variety of other events.  An Eagle Pride Week schedule will be posted to the website once finalized.

Soar Like an Eagle!
