Duane Lebo, LL - Fine Arts

The music department has begun rehearsals with three performing groups. The concert band, jazz band and choir are all in preparation for the many fall performances that are scheduled and we are delighted to welcome world-famous conductor and educator, Dr. Dale Lonis, to Forest Lawn to work with our students on Wednesday, October 10. As well, preparation is underway for spring travel and fundraising. The Forest Lawn Music Parents’ Association will be meeting on the second Monday of each month to facilitate these important programs and all music parents are welcome to attend.

Term one was an extremely busy and rewarding one for the students in the Music Department. and the coming months look to be even busier! The Concert Band was privileged to perform for the school during the Remembrance Day assemblies on November 9. Brandon Tran performed the Last Post.

Next up, the Concert Band, Jazz Band and Choir will be performing for the school and the community during Grade 9 Tours/Parent Evening and for our Winter Festival performance.

On Nov. 29, the Jazz Band will perform during the Grade nine tours in the morning and in the theater during the parent evening that same day.

The Fall/Winter performing season continues with the Winter Festival of Music on Dec. 4. This concert features the music students of FLHS in a variety of settings and performing a variety of repertoire. The concert starts at 7:00PM and tickets can be purchased at the door for $5.00. Children 12 and under are free. Please come out and enjoy the sounds of the season with your family.
