Month of October

Our focus this thus far has been:

-Throwing and Catching (football)

-Finishing our unit of area of parallelogram, trapezoids and compound shapes

-Started Prime and Composite Numbers

-Abiotic and biotic factors in a forest, food webs and identifying producer, consumer, decomposer, carnivores, herbivores and omnivores.

-Democracy and contributing to a society, local, provincial and federal government

-Writing and finishing our Indigo Adopt A School book covers and book blurbs

-Honesty Lessons

Week of September 20th

Our focus this week is:

-Review 2 and 3 by 2 digit multiplication and reviewing our basic facts.

-Analyze areas of parallelograms and triangles.

-Determine the area of a parallelogram using multiplication.

-Determine the base or height of a parallelogram using division.

-Defining representative democracy, constitution and society.

-Describing why it is important for people and government to work together in a democracy.

-Describing why it is important to have rules, responsibilities, rights and expectations in a society.

-Describing what makes a tree different from other plants.

-Describing the importance of trees and forests to the ecosystem.

-How acts of respect affect others.

-Practicing paragraph writing with supporting details.

-Text features: Graph, diagram, photograph.

-Playing Cooperative games

-Working on warm/cool colors
