Glendale School Update- September 4, 2020

Dear Glendale Families,
We hope that the weekend has gotten off to a good start for all of our families. We imagine that there were some tired kiddos coming home today! We are so proud of our students for tackling this week with such positivity and exuberance. Having them in the building literally and metaphorically brought life back into the building after being vacant for so long.
This week, we had learning happening in all corners of our School grounds... the Alberta Wilds, the Courage Garden, the field, classrooms... it was beautiful to see students and teachers up to the task. One of the best parts of our year so far has been the ability to think outside of the out of the box-often when we don't know what to do, the most creative solutions are born, and we witnessed that this week as teachers and students were forced to rethink what teaching and learning will look like for the time being. Thank you for all of your coaching and teaching with your children at home in terms of masks, sanitizing and safety during the pandemic at school.
A Look Ahead:
1. It is a long weekend! There is no school for students on Monday, September 7th.  We will see everyone again on Tuesday morning in the field.
2. Teachers will be sending out their new classroom twitter handles soon. Please give them a follow on twitter. Our school-wide twitter handle is @glendalecbe if you would like to follow us.
3. We will continue to send out our weekly communications from each class and Administration every Friday afternoon before 5 p.m. We ask that families use teachers as their main points of contact when asking about classroom tasks, routines and experiences. The teachers are far more likely to understand the context of the day's events, and they are more than happy to engage in communication with you. That said, we are also eager to communicate with you should you need anything at all.
4. Please remember to tag all belongings with your child's name as we will be removing all lost and found items on a weekly basis.
5. If you send sanitizer from home, that is great- please make sure your child knows not to share.
6. We appreciate your vigilance around the health screening process before and after school with all members of your family.
7. Current provincial protocols require us to contact parents to come and pick their child if he or she reports COVID-19 symptoms of any kind. We are unable to contact *811 on your behalf, and ask that parents please do so upon picking up their child in order to seek the advice, and next steps, from professional health care workers.
If you have any questions or concerns, or you would like to provide some feedback, please feel free to contact us at any point in the office via email or phone.
Please have a safe and restful weekend!

Kristin and Dan
