Playground Project

We are aiming to build a new playground! When You Ask?  Spring/Summer 2023 or 2024.

Escuela Glenmeadows School Society and Council in collaboration with Escuela Glenmeadows School have struck a playground committee! We began our efforts and ideas starting November 2021 where a survey was sent out to the staff, admin and parents of the school. We had a large response and the favor leaned towards building a new playground for our students.  Please see the survey results attached.

The project is in its infancy stage as we look into grant applications, and other fundraising opportunities. We are planning on applying to Calgary Parks Foundation, fundraise with corporations within the community, plan school fundraisers and work with supply companies to design a new playground.

School playgrounds are a costly endeavor and require a large amount of funding from municipal, provincial governments as well as corporate and community donations. We aim to raise a total of $350,000 - $500,000 depending on the final quote of the playground design. We are considering inclusive/accessible and making it larger!

We hope that roughly half of the cost will be covered by grants from different agencies within both the provincial and municipal government. We are looking to raise the remaining funds through corporate donations, both monetary and in-kind, as well as monetary donations from community members.

It will take all of us to work together to make this dream come true!  If you want to join the Playground Committee, please reach out to Ray Suarez (principal) or email GlenmeadowsPlayground@gmail.com

How can you help get us started ?

June Fiestaval Fundraising Opportunity

It has been 2 years of COVID restricting us from not knowing who our Escuela Glenmeadows School friends, family and neighbors are !  Please come and join us on June 2 430-730pm where we can get to know each other !  Visit with your school friends and families again while enjoying meals from Food Trucks (or bring a picnic supper), get to know your new Council and Society members  AND participate in the GUESS HOW MANY JELLYBEANS ARE IN THE JAR and/or CHOCOLATE COVERED  ALMOND JAR fundraiser where ALL the donations will be set aside for the new playground. Bring your loonies, toonies, $5, $10, $ 20 bills, any amount helps.  We can issue a tax receipt for donations over $25.

Volunteer Opportunities

Fundraising and building a playground is a HUGE project. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated even if it is an hour of your time. We are looking for help with Fundraising, Grant Proposals, and In Kind Donations. If any of this interests you, please contact the school or email GlenmeadowsPlayground@gmail.com
