Weekly Update

Good afternoon Georges P. Vanier families,

My name is Lucie Lejeune and I am a retired Principal of the CBE.  It’s a real pleasure to be here as your Acting Principal for the next few weeks.  I am excited to get to know our students, staff and maybe some of you during my assignment here.  If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact me.  As soon as I have any updates on the Principal that will be assigned to GP Vanier, I will let you know.  I am told that it should be after the March break/beginning of April.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Madame Lucie

We welcome Mme Lucie Lejeune our Acting Principal for the next few weeks.

As the provincial government has announced that we are moving into stage 2 of reopening, there will be many questions as to how this impacts students in schools (cohorts, sports, trips, etc.).  Know that the CBE is taking the time to prepare a communication to parents and for now, we will continue to follow our current protocols all while starting to make a few adjustments. The Alberta Daily Health Checklist remains in effect. When we learn more, we will be sure to share with you.

Paul Davis

Thank you again to our Parent Council for supporting the presentation this past Monday from Paul Daviis. Students have learned about what it means to be a Digital Citizen and their responsibility with this technology. We sent home a blue form this week regarding “Admirable Use Policy” for our learning community.

Engagement Survey

At the February Parent Council Meeting, we presented our School Planning information. We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about school planning and asking you to share your perspectives.

During this online engagement, you will have the opportunity to:

1. Learn About

  • School planning, which includes the school development plan, school budget and school fees

  •  How the school development plan sets the overall focus and direction for a school to improve student learning outcomes

  • How the school budget provides funding to implement our school development plan

  • School fees and why they are necessary

2. Participate

  • Share your perspectives through an online survey open from February 25 to March 8 (closes at 11:59 PM).

Here is the link to our survey: 2022-2023 Engagement Survey on Fees

Semaine de la Francophonie

From March 14 – 18 we will be celebrating French Culture during French Week. Activities will include an Artist in Residence, a costume contest, a “cabane à sucre” and special treats in the cafeteria that week. We may even have a special guest visit us! We will provide more details next week with specifics for each day of the week.
