Dear Lynx Families,
Happy New Year! It has been great to see how quickly students and teachers have picked up where they left off. Just this week we have seen badminton tryouts begin, students busily finishing up semester 1 work and our grade 9 students begin to connect more with their future high schools.
On that note, over the next few weeks we are welcoming guidance teams from most of the high schools that our students will be attending. We have asked that students please check the Grade 9 Google Classroom that Mr. Cheng has created to keep families informed of High School information. If you do have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school. We know that this can be a stressful time for many students (and their families) so we will do our best to be supportive and answer whatever questions we can.
While our grade 9 students begin looking forward to high school, Mme Laurelle and I are busily connecting with prospective students for our late French Immersion program. We have started going out to visit different schools, and along with some student representatives, we are speaking with Grade 6 students about our school and program. While we will do our best to connect with interested families, the best messengers we have are our current students and families. Please feel free to let other families know about our school, and if they have any questions or are interested in attending G.P. Vanier next year, contact the school to speak with Mme. Laurelle or me.
We will be hosting an open house for just our prospective late immersion students on February 8th (see below), while our open house for the community English program, the continuing French Immersion and the Learning & Literacy program will be May 25th. More information will be available about both of these evenings in the weeks ahead.
Bonne fin de semaine,
Chad Edmonds – Principal GP Vanier

2023-2024 Hybrid Open House for our Late French Immersion Program
We are already in planning mode for the next school year! Our Georges P. Vanier Open House for our late French Immersion program for 2023-2024 will take place on Wednesday, February 8th from 6:30 - 7:30pm. We will have a presentation that will be shown virtually, and we are inviting families to come in person as well. We will be visiting some of our grade 6 feeder schools in January.
Grade 9 Eastern Canada Fundraiser
