Security

We take safety and security seriously. It is important that we maintain a safe and caring community so that learning can take place.

Closed Campus

Students are generally not permitted to leave the school grounds at lunchbreaks. For students who live near the school, and have a parent at home during the day, a request can be made for the student to go home for lunch. Please call the school office for more information.

Visitors & Volunteers

Any visitors must first report to the main office, sign the Visitor Book and receive a visitor pass that must be worn in such a way that it is visible to others. Parents and other relatives must also report to the main office before meeting students. This helps us to keep the school safe for everyone.

Access to Hallways During Class Time

Students must ask permission to leave the classroom during class times. It is expected that students are prompt when using the washroom or retrieving necessary supplies from their locker, also they are not to use their mobile device.

Student Searches

In the event that school safety and security is a concern administration has the right to complete searches of student lockers, student property or personal belongings at any time.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
