French Language Arts

The French Language Arts Curriculum is designed to enhance student understanding and production of the French language. It is broken into five components: Reading comprehension, oral comprehension, written production, oral production and the valuing of French language and cultures. The course tends to be very hands on, creative and interactive. Students will engage in games, activities, assignments and projects to develop each component of their language learning.

Students will be assessed using the following stems:

  • Understands and responds to oral language
  • Speaks to communicate information and ideas
  • Reads to explore, construct and extend understanding
  • Writes to develop, organize and express information and ideas

A student’s Language Arts teacher will also be his / her Social Studies teacher (Humanities). Wherever possible and logical, concepts and assignments will be integrated in order to enhance student learning.
