At Grant MacEwan our mission is to provide meaningful and relevant learning experiences for all of our students. Our staff is dedicated to providing a sound academic foundation that meets student needs and promotes learning. We believe that all youth deserve the opportunity to be the best they can be. We strive to maintain a learning environment characterized by respect, cooperation and caring. I feel extremely fortunate to work with such hardworking, polite and well-behaved students, a superior staff, a dedicated school council, and parents who care for their children and support them in their learning.

We embrace opportunities for students to engage in meaningful opportunities that will support and enhance learning. We are linked to many agencies and community based programs that make our school a vibrant place dedicated to students. Examples of our ongoing involvement may include:
- Fuel for School breakfast and snack program
- It’s A Crime Not to Read program opportunities with Calgary City Police Service
- Calgary Reads – “Wee Reads”
- Authentic learning activities, field trips and guest speakers supported by our Parent Society
- Extracurricular programs
- Student Leadership opportunities including, Me to We, Safety Patrol, and Student Council.

- Fine Arts Performances
- Information Communication Technologies embedded into teaching and learning
- Up-to-date technology pods in our Learning Commons
- Maintained Learning Commons creating the hub of our learning
- Specialist Teacher supporting Music & Physical Education
- Regular visits from Calgary Public Library
Monthly school assemblies and performances to celebrate student learning. While this list is not exhaustive, it represents the many ties to learning that we believe are important for our students’ growth at our school.
