Being a Griffith Woods Grey Wolf has a special meaning to the students, staff, and families of our community. We at the GWSC are committed to working together with all community members – students, staff, and families to achieve a common vision for our school.
MISSION STATEMENT
The Griffith Woods School Council is committed to working together to support the goals of Griffith Woods School. Our membership facilitates this by engaging our School community in promoting student leadership, academic and personal achievement, and active citizenship. Council works to develop and strengthen ties between the school, the home, and the community. WHAT DO WE DO? Actively seek the views of the school community. Actively represent the views of the school community. Inform the school community. Involve the school community. Encourage all forms of parental involvement and support. Work within the policies of the local school board. Become well-informed. Focus on the best interests of all students. Maintain high ethical standards.

The Fun Lunch
committee orchestrates all aspects of the Fun Lunch program. The committee
determines which fun lunches and snacks will be offered and when and sets up
all necessary arrangements with the chosen vendors. They enlist volunteers to
prepare forms, collect payments, arrange the snacks for Kindergarten students,
and organize volunteers for food distribution and clean-up on delivery days.

This committee is
dedicated to creating a warm and welcoming experience for the students, staff,
and families of Griffith Woods School. Help give our community opportunities to
connect with events like parent socials and school dances. If you’re excited about new

TEACHER
APPRECIATION COMMITTEE

Help our
community say “Thank you” to the terrific teachers and staff at Griffith
Woods School. This committee plans and organizes two events during the school
year (one before and one after Christmas,) to honour and thank staff for their
effort and dedication. Duties include collaborating with the Principal to establish
the date and securing a space for the event, extending invitations to the
Staff, enlisting volunteer donations of potluck dishes, managing set up and
clean up including acquiring event supplies (table cloths, extra chairs,
extension cords, etc), and enlisting students for service duties and possibly
entertainment.

excellent work completed by Jeni and Shana, GWS’s naturalization area is now complete and requires
maintenance be completed by this committee. This committee ensures ongoing upkeep, maintenance, and additional expansion of the
naturalization area is facilitated.

may be for you if you enjoy the rush of satisfaction at the sight of a
well-organized mudroom. This committee develops school protocol for
donating/disposing of unclaimed items and earns great appreciation for their
contribution to reuniting students with their valuables while also keeping our
school clutter-free.
KEY COMMUNICATOR
OPEN
Information
collection and sharing is the main role of the Key Communicator for Griffith
Woods School. This position involves attending system-wide meetings held during
the school year with the purpose of bringing back information and ideas to school council. The person in this role serves as a valuable link between school council and the greater school district. This role may also liaise
between the Griffith Woods School neighbourhood community associations and
local businesses relaying information on upcoming community events,
initiatives, or concerns that would be of interest to all parties.
YEARBOOK
COMMITTEE

Help capture and
commemorate the Griffith Woods School year. This committee may assign one or
more editors who are responsible to oversee the design, creation, and
publication of a yearbook for the current year. The committee may involve
student and staff volunteers to support photography and design but is
ultimately responsible for compiling all the material necessary to create,
publish, and distribute the yearbook for all to enjoy.
