​​Learning Commons at the CBE

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.​​​

Learning Commons / Library

During class time (with teacher permission) and during the lunch hour, students are welcome to use the Learning Commons as a quiet area for working and reading. The Learning Commons plays an important role in the learning process of students. Its resources include reference books, non-fiction books, fiction books, audio-visual materials, a maker space and various technologies  Most books are signed out for a two-week period; however reference materials are for in school use only.  

Expectations

  • Contribute to a productive learning area
  • Keep any necessary discussion within the table area
  • Keep area clean
  • Food, gum and drinks are not permitted
  • ‘Gaming’ is not acceptable on the computers
