Digital Citizenship

Computer and Technology Use

Students are provided access to computers, iPads, digital cameras, video cameras and the internet to assist them in their learning and use a variety of computer applications and programs that enable them to demonstrate their understanding in a variety of ways.

Students are allowed to bring their own mobile devices to use at school. G.W. Skene does not assume any responsibility for damage or loss to student owned devices.

Students who misuse school technology or the network will have their computer privileges removed for a period of time up to the remainder of the year. Parents will be notified of this consequence by the school administration. Misuse of computers may include sending threatening or disrespectful e-mails, vandalizing equipment, accessing inappropriate web sites, going on social media sites, and uploading content to the Internet without proper permission. Student use of social media outside of school hours is expected to comply with school values and code of conduct.

Please ensure you read and sign the Student Owned Devices letter sent home in the opening day package with your child, and return it to the school.

Digital Citizenship at the CBE

Digital citizenship is about using technology and participating in digital environments. It is key to helping our students learn to use available technology responsibly in the classroom and beyond. Our school has a Digital Citizenship Plan that is updated annually, addressing how we work to build a community where we live and work together as digital citizens.

Visit the CBE website to learn more about how we support students to develop online safety skills and be good digital citizens.
