Weekly Principal's Message - September 2, 2022

Dear Hamptons Parents/Guardians: An Amazing First Week! I would like to extend a huge thank you to all students, staff members and parents/guardians of The Hamptons School! While it has only been two days, we have had an amazing time welcoming all members of our school community back. Today we also held our first agenda draw of the year. Principal Message September 23, 2022

Principal's Message – Friday, September 23, 2022
Hi Hamptons families, I am super excited to get the opportunity to be part of the Hamptons school. I was fortunate to meet a lot of students and their families this week at the school and during the open house. I wanted to share a little bit about myself. I have worked for the CBE for over 20 years in various schools. I have lived in Calgary with my husband for almost 25 years. We have three children and two of them are currently attending University. My youngest child is in Grade 10 at Crescent Heights High School. Hope to meet you soon!
Emergency Practice Drills
We have completed our first two emergency practice drills including the 1st fire drill and 1st lockdown. Both drills went smoothly, and the students did exactly what they were instructed to do!
Hamptons Community Association Rink Repair
The boards around the rink at the community association are being replaced over the next 2-4 weeks and this may impact parking. There will be a fence placed around the rink to ensure safety.
REMINDER - Forms!
Please fill out your online forms (due TODAY) if you have not already done so! Please sign into your MyCBE account to access School Engage to complete these forms. Due by September 27, 2022.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation – September 30
Orange Shirt Day is officially on September 30. At the Hamptons school, we will recognize Orange Shirt Day on September 29 with a school assembly and we ask all students to wear orange in support of Truth and Reconciliation. Truth and Reconciliation began in 2013 when residential school survivor Phyllis Webstad shared how her orange shirt was taken away on her first day at residential school. This story is an opportunity for students and staff to reflect on history, legacy and implications, to discuss stories of survival and strength and to share ways we can work together toward truth and reconciliation. It is also an opportunity to commit to commemorating the children who attended residential schools, recognizing their experiences, honoring them and sharing a collective commitment to ensure that every child matters and that each student is welcome, safe, respected and cared for in their learning community every day.
First Council Meeting
Our first School Council and Parent Society Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 28th at 6:30 pm in person at The Hamptons School! All parents are automatically members of the school council and parent society and are invited to join us.
Register for Lunchroom Supervision
Parents/Guardians of those students who stay for lunch are asked to register for Noon-Supervision using their MyCBE/Powerschool Account as soon as possible.
Upcoming Dates
Date Event September 28 School Council Meeting at 6:30 pm at The Hamptons School September 29 Orange Shirt Day at the Hamptons September 30 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation -No School for Students
Have a great weekend!

Mrs. Williams
