School Property

We take great pride in keeping a tidy school; both inside and out. We ask all our students to be good citizens by putting garbage and recycling where it belongs and helping to keep our classrooms and playground clean.

Also, a reminder that smoking is not permitted on CBE property. Parents and family members may not smoke anywhere outside of the school. This includes sidewalks. Your cooperation is both appreciated and expected.

Playground Rules & Expectations

As a school, we consistently review our playground rules and expectations with our students as needed throughout the school year. Please take a moment to review these with your child(ren):

  • If it looks unsafe, we will ask you to stop
  • Rocks and snow stay on the ground
  • Stay inside school boundaries at all times
  • COVID Re-entry: We are providing each cohort with an area outside that supports
physical distancing and promotes play and physical activity. Playgrounds will follow the guidelines of Alberta Guidance for Playgrounds. With this in mind, schools will not be assigning staff to supervise playground equipment before or after school. To support student safety and to decrease the mixing of cohort groups, playground equipment will be closed to students before and after school.

Use of School Equipment, Open Spaces & Play Areas

Students are expected to use school and recreational equipment appropriately. Students are expected to play safe games that will not potentially endanger themselves or others. Students are expected to respect the rights of participants in organized games and not to disrupt the activity.

No Dogs on School Property

We would like to remind our community of the City of Calgary Bylaw 23M2006-Responsible Pet Ownership, dogs are not allowed on CBE property. This regulation is in place for two reasons:

  • No Dogs on School Property Most importantly, some children are fearful of dogs and should not have to face that fear every day.
  • Children play on the property and dogs, through no fault of their own can create unsanitary conditions.

The restricted area for dogs includes the entire playing field, the grassed areas on school property and all sidewalks that lead to school entrances. We appreciate your consideration.
