Entry and Exit Procedures

Students should wait for their friends and/or siblings outside and enter and exit through their assigned doors.

  • Rooms 1 & 2 enter and exit door 5 (east, parking lot door)
  • Rooms 5, 6 and 7 enter and exit door 4 (Playground/tarmac door)
  • Rooms 8, 9 and 10 enter and exit door 1 (south west end door)
  • Room 11 enters and exits door 2 (south west tarmac door)
  • EDC Students (In rooms 3 & 4) enter and exit through the main doors at the front of the school.

Visitors

The front door is locked all day except from 8.00 – 8:30 to allow students in at the beginning of the day. Visitors to the school can gain entry by ringing the grey buzzer located to the left of the main entrance doors. All visitors to the school (parents, volunteers, community members, etc.) must enter through the main doors at the front of the school and sign in at the office. Volunteers and other visitors will be given a tag indicating the office is aware they are in the building and that they have a purpose for being in the school.

Supervision

The school provides playground supervision at recess and 15 minutes prior to entrance times at 8:05 AM and 12:30 PM. Students are not to arrive at school before these times. Unless students are taking part in a school supervised activity they are expected to go home at the 3:05 dismissal bell.

Emergency Contacts

The school maintains an emergency information file for each student. This file is updated each school year. Please notify the school immediately of any change of address, phone number or emergency contact.

Restraining Orders / Custody Agreements

Occasionally families go through the painful process of splitting up. In such cases where parents go their separate ways, we need a copy of supporting legal documents on file at the school that outlines the legal rights of the parties. Please be sure to inform the school of the limitations in such restraining orders.

Lockdowns

All CBE schools are required to practice lockdowns in the same way that we practice fire drills. The procedures for lockdowns are developed with the Calgary Police Service and are part of each school’s Emergency Response Plan. If you have questions about lockdown drills or lockdown procedures, please contact your principal.

Evacuation Procedures

In the event that the school needs to be evacuated for any reason, all staff have been trained according to CBE standards. All schools have a primary and a secondary evacuation site. In the event of an evacuation, you will receive an email, phone or SMS notification from the school.
