The CBE's Approach to Community Engagement

Dialogue is the Calgary Board of Education’s approach to community engagement. It is a mutually respectful exchange of ideas that acknowledges and celebrates the diversity within the CBE community. It represents our ongoing commitment to involve people in decisions that affect them.

We know we make better decisions when we listen and work together to solve problems and find solutions. When we do, our students are better equipped to become successful citizens who contribute their ideas, passion and energy to society.

There can be no dialogue without you. Find out more about Dialogue as well as current and past system engagement initiatives on the CBE’s website.

Community Engagement

Hawkwood Kindergarten Survey

The half-day nature of the Kindergarten program in Alberta creates additional logistical and financial challenges for parents that do not exist at other grade levels. This year systemic changes relative to provincial funding and transportation have added to these challenges. We recently engaged our kindergarten parents (2020-21) on the ideas of half-day kindergarten vs. full-day rotating kindergarten. The results of this engagement can be found on the posted document, "Hawkwood Kindergarten Survey".

RT @UsihChristopher: Dear parent/guardian, If your child is feeling unwell, they must remain at home. As well, if they have had a COVID-19 test, they must not return to school until they get results, even if they are feeling better. Thank you for your co-operation. #WeAreCBE
