Principal's Message

Weather...Survey Time!

Dear Parents/Guardians and Students,Thank you for joining us during our first virtual parent-teacher interviews last Thursday it was a huge success.  Lets keep it going!
We hope that everyone is having a good week. As we move towards the end of October and the Halloween season, we would like to share a friendly reminder about some costume considerations. Families who are new to HWW, we have a wonderful Halloween “parade" on October 29 and encourage lots of spirit and creative costumes from staff and students! This year, we are following COVID regulations and have asked students to sign up for the costume “parade" in advance to allow us to take videos in small groups.
Halloween Costumes
A reminder to parents to review the following with their student regarding costumes:
No Halloween masks- we need to see our students faces...but regular masks to cover mouths are perfect!
No weapons of any kind – guns, swords, etc.
Costumes that are offensive
Inappropriate slogans, symbols etc.
Unsuitable Clothing – please follow the dress code.
Final Exams in January 2021
Good news, the exam schedule is now posted on our website. Please note, that we ask families to ensure that all students are present to complete the final assessments for the semester. For students in 30 level classes, it important to understand that the Alberta Education Diploma examinations cannot be rescheduled. Additional information is posted on our website.
Reminder that all International students and students rewriting exams must pay for exams on myPass and submit receipts to the Main Office. Without providing this receipt, students will not be able to write exams in January. This is an Alberta Education regulation.
Once again, please view Henry Wise Wood's new website for further information regarding the exam schedule, tips and concerns for our exams in January.

Dress for the Weather
To promote movement and fresh air, students are taking PE classes outdoors rain or shine or snow.  Students are also outside for 20 minutes during the first half of lunch if they choose.  Students are expected to stay in the class previous to the lunch hour to eat, if they do not want to go outside.  We expect there to be heavy snow cover during the upcoming week, so please encourage your child to wear appropriate clothing.  The Open Class Rooms Schedule can be found on D2L and the Instagram sites.
*New this year: OurSCHOOL Well Being Survey
Beginning next week and until November 19th Henry Wise Wood will be conducting the CBE OurSCHOOL survey. This survey will be run during class time for all of our grades (10-12).
About the OurSCHOOL Student Survey:
Allows students to share their feedback anonymously on their experiences at school, school environment, and school improvement programs.
Based on their feedback, students have the opportunity to be involved in action plans fostering increased student engagement
Participation in the survey is voluntary, however, all students are encouraged to participate.
The time required to complete the survey may vary, but it is designed to be completed in approximately 35-40 minutes. Survey measures include such topics as behaviours and attitudes linked to student success, emotional and social well-being and physical health. For more information about the OurSCHOOL Student Survey, please visit The Learning Bar's website: www.thelearningbar.com. If you have questions or would like to request more information about HWW's upcoming implementation of the OurSCHOOL Student Survey, please contact Rory Stabler rdstabler@cbe.ab.ca
Have a good week!
