School Culture and Community at Wise Wood

“You dream. You plan. You reach. There will be obstacles. There will be doubters. There will be mistakes. But with hard work, with belief, with confidence and trust in yourself and those around you, there are no limits."
Michael Phelps Olympic Swimmer

Dear Henry Wise Wood Students, Parent/Guardians, and Community,
Today I would like to draw your particular attention to our upcoming May 19 full school virtual assembly and follow up May 30 and June 6 lunch hour sessions around the issues of consent, sexual assault, reporting and available supports.. This is in response to the two student walkouts this year, during which the students raised concerns and questions about these matters. Our students have gathered in Warrior Voice Cafes to build a supportive response plan. Please see the attached letter for further details. Thank you for your support of our Warrior community and our continued creation of our welcome, safe, caring and respectful learning environment.
In other news, we are so pleased to share of the many successes of our spring Athletics teams,
Field Hockey
The girls competed in the Dino's Tournament and won 2 of their 3 games, placing third overall. They are having a dynamite season with a 3-1-1 record. Their last regular season game is Monday May 16 at the Soccer Centre @ 4pm. Good luck girls!
Rugby
Congratulations to our senior boys who won gold, senior girls who won silver, and junior boys who won bronze at the Clearwater Cup on Friday. Our teams are having extremely successful seasons and we look forward to watching them in play-offs.
Track and Field
Our athletes competed in the Dino's meet on Saturday and we had a number of top 5 finishes. We have a number of athletes competing again this evening at Foothills. Our Divisional Meet is next Wednesday May 18. Those who place in the top 6 in their event will qualify for City Finals on May 28. Go Warriors!
Soccer
Both soccer teams are moving along. Good luck to our seniors in their final 2 games. Our juniors had a big win last night and are currently second in their division. Keep up the momentum!
Badminton
What a season! Our team won the Division 2 City Championship! Congratulations to all of our athletes and to Darshini and Angelina who placed 3 overall in the Province!
Model UN
We are so proud of our Model UN delegates! Congratulations to the Henry Wise Wood Model UN team for their amazing work at the Model UN conference at Western Canada High School on April 29 and 30.  Our delegation won three awards including “Most Outstanding Delegate" (Aaryan Y), “Most Improved Delegate" (Anthony M), and “The Delegate with the Most Potential" (David T).
Legally Blonde is a must see play.  Remember to get your tickets for Legally Blonde: The Musical running until this Friday May 13. Please contact Mr. McDonald for tickets. Information under the Drama section below.

RT @SASCBE: Our Grade 3/4s had a hands on experience building birds houses after learning about the importance of birds in Calgary. Birds are often seen as spiritual messengers who bridge the natural and spirit world in Indigenous cultures. @DClovis https://t.co/7DoX3d45Ca

RT @CJMCBE: Our Grade 5 students explored Weaselhead Flats today. We learned so much about wetlands, plants, and animals. We studied aquatic invertebrates and saw so many different birds. Thank you to our guide and to our parent volunteers 😃 #WeAreCBE https://t.co/H26VYcj1EY
