Dear HWW Students, Families, and Community Members,
As we move into February, we recognize Black History Month by celebrating the contributions of Black Canadians. Information will be posted Tuesdays and Thursday on our school Instagram, our school television displays and our morning announcements. Please take some time to learn about and celebrate these incredible Canadians! Our first post will be in honour of a Junior High feeder school namesake, John Ware.
We are excited to have our second Semester underway! Thank you to all of our students who have committed themselves to a successful semester. We enjoyed virtual assemblies with our Grade 10 and 11 students this week with remarks of appreciation and key reminders for students in how to have a strong start to Semester 2.
One of these reminders is about the closed nature of our school campus and the importance of not inviting anyone to our campus or going to other campuses without the permission of the school administration. Please see the attached Closed Campus reminder.
In Athletics, we are excited to continue our Basketball, Curling and Wrestling seasons, with Badminton try-outs beginning this week. Congratulations to our wrestlers who took home two gold medals at the Rundle Wrestling Tournament this past weekend! Go, Warriors!
This Friday's Non-Instructional Day will be dedicated to our Semester 1 to Semester 2 transition. We will revisit the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework in transitioning from the Winter season (mind domain) to the Spring season (spirit domain). We will focus on our collaborative response interventions and ensuring staff awareness of IPP accommodations to support students in a smooth transition to their Semester 2 classes.
Thank you for partnering with us for a smooth Semester 2 start up,
Aileen Smyth
