One of the most important ways parents/guardians and community members can make a meaningful difference for students is by participating on the school council. Under the Education Act, a school council is a collective association designed to advise the principal and the CBE Board of Trustees on matters related to the school. School councils have legislated advisory. They are different from Parent Societies & Associations, whose main function is to raise funds for the school. You can find more details in the CBE School Council Handbook.

School Council meetings are currently being held virtually the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 pm. This is a fantastic way to hear about what our students are learning through their teachers first hand as well as understand what kind of support the school staff and administration need in order to enhance our students’ learning and needs. This is also a great way to have a voice in the way we support our school. The School Council Handbook and Operating Procedures are posted on the school website to provide a bit of background information for anyone with questions about what the role of our School Council is. All parents/guardians are welcome to attend so please don’t be shy and show your support by signing on. Monthly meeting agendas and minutes will be posted on the school website in a timely manner for reference. If anyone would like to reach out to the School Council please email us at hiddenvalleyschoolcouncil@gmail.com.

These are challenging times for all non-profit organizations including school councils. While we cannot do things in-person doesn't mean that we cannot come up with creative ways to continue to fundraise for our students and encourage school spirit! Our casino will be held in the first quarter of the new year. This is the most important fundraising event that the School Council utilizes to financially support Hidden Valley School and our students. Without your help, we will not be able to continue to partake in this event, which will directly impact each student at out school. Please keep an eye out for messages from the School Council as we will be needing volunteers to help support this event.
