Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Parking & Drop-Off

Hillhurst Rules

  • Students should always exit on the passenger side of the vehicle
  • There should be no double parking or U-turns on 7th Ave. in front of the school.
  • We have a City Approved "Hug and Go" zone in the front of our school on 7th Ave.  The "Hug and Go" is a zone is designed for parents to pick up and drop up of their children in a safe manner. The "Hug and Go" Zone will be in effect from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and then again from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm during school days. During the "Hug and Go" times, vehicles are not able to park as this is a loading zone. As safety of students is a top priority we will have designated staff that will help parents unload and load their children.
  • 8th Ave. is a bus zone
  • The parking lot is a no-go zone for parents and students -- do not drive through or stop in this area.
