Our Guiding Question for the year: “How can growth contribute to a world that is sustainable and resilient through understanding my responsibility to self, others, and this place?"
Sunday, March 12, 2023
Good afternoon and happy Sunday to our Ian Bazalgette families. We hope that you are having a great weekend.
School messages home will soon begin again, and in fact I wanted to share that a new school bulletin is under development (details to come soon).
In the meantime, I just wanted to take a moment to share with the community my sincere appreciation of this school and its community in my first week here. So many students, parents, and staff, took time to make sure I had a warm welcome in my first week on the job. I am proud to be the new principal at Ian Bazalgette School.
As you might imagine, there was a lot for me to take-in during my first few days. Please excuse me if I do not capture everything I saw, but I definitely wanted to share some of the key events that went on this week in terms of athletics and learning:
In Badminton Ian Baz came in 2nd out of 4 schools in the overall school standings!
We held basketball try-outs
Telus Spark came to visit us
Learning Artefacts went home
Science Olympics work was shared in the main gym
Of course, we also held Parent Student Teacher Conferences as well. Thank you very much to our school council for providing some food on Thursday evening. The staff very much appreciated it!
This coming week we have the following upcoming activities:
A Telus Spark Field Trip scheduled for some of our grade eights
Our Gr. 6 classes will be away Monday to Thursday at Camp Chief Hector
I look forward to continuing my learnings about this building and its learners this coming week. Ms. Peterson and the rest of the school will of course continue to be patient with me while I curiously ask many questions.
