“How do I use my resiliency to create sustainability for myself, my community, and the world?"
June 20th, 2022
Good morning to our Ian Bazalgette families today. I hope this finds all of you well after a nice weekend as we start the last full week of the school year.
Ours students in grade 7, 8 and 9 will see a week of exams while our grade 6 students are having their last PAT exam today. We know these exams don't tell the whole learning story, but also know they are one way of having students demonstrate what they have learned. We will be using this information to inform our next steps here at Ian Bazalgette as we are already looking to do planning for next year.
Teachers are also busy this week finalizing final grades for the report cards and will have that completed for next Monday. On next Monday the report cards will be open and available for parents to view online. We will not be sending paper report cards home unless a parent requests one. Requests can be made to your child's homeroom teacher. Please have these requests in by weeks end so we have time to print them for next Monday. Parents may access the report cards through the MyCBE account. If you need help accessing this please contact the front office staff and they will be happy to guide you through the process.
Next Monday and Tuesday students will be following their normal Monday / Tuesday Schedule. Grades 6-8 will be doing assemblies on Tuesday morning to celebrate the school year. The grade 9's will have their Farewell activities in the afternoon going from 3:00 – 6:00pm. They will start their Farewell in the gym with some acknowledgements and a video presentation, followed by food trucks and a dance. A reminder this is an event only for grade 9 students here and parents are invited the first portion starting in the gym.
I would like to once again thank our community for attending our Learning Celebration on June 9th. It was an incredible event and we hope it met your expectations. We will be looking to elevate and continue these types of celebrations next year. We do thank the many of you that were able to attend.
Stay well.
Terry / Jamie-Dee
