Ian Bazalgette Parent Message

How do we tell the story of resilience?
                                                                                                                                                                  June 19th, 2021
Good morning to the Ian Bazalgette families.
It has been a few weeks since an update has been sent out and I appreciate your patience with me as we make our way through June and all the exciting times that come with being in June under normal years.  I realized the other day this was the first June I have had with students in the building at Ian Bazalgette.  With this realization has come some leadership perspectives that will continue to inform us as to our next steps at Ian Bazalgette School.
We have so much to celebrate and so much to be proud of in our students and the learning they have taken up this year.  We also know that we have many areas that we will continue to look on to improve as we think about and make plans for the 21-22 school year. As we move to next year you will see some tweaks in our planning as they get firmed up.  In my message next week I will share some of the changes parents can anticipate for the 21-22 school year.
A few weeks ago the revelation of the discovery in Kamloops and the 215 souls that need to be remembered we know this has been impactful to our community and especially hard for our Indigenous community here at Ian Bazalgette and beyond.  As a school we have taken steps over the past few weeks to talk about discuss and help our Indigenous families along with help our students understand the critical nature of that discovery.  As a school community and along with the CBE we are committed to the recommendations of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and we are striving to do our part in the reconciliation process through education.  This coming week we will be taking steps; starting with National Indigenous Peoples' Day on Monday and moving through the week with Indigenous Awareness Week we have learning that we have asked teachers to take up with students.  We understand that reconciliation is more than a day or a week and we are using these moments to highlight and to move forward collectively.
Report Cards this year will be available in the Online “MyCBE" portal.  Report cards will be open for viewing by parents on Saturday June 26th.  If you do not have the “MyCBE" app or have not signed up for it you are encouraged to do so.  If you would like a paper copy of the report card we are asking you to email your child's homeroom teacher by Thursday June 24th so we may make arrangements for the printing of the report card. To sign up for the “My CBE" follow this link: if you are still having challenges please contact the school and we will assist.
We hope that you have a great weekend and Happy Father's Day to all the Father's out there J.
Stay well.
