School Supplies

School supply lists are distributed by teachers the first week of school along with course outlines.

Lunch Supervision

Should students choose to leave school property at lunch, they do so with their parent’s permission. Eating at school is a privilege; students are expected to keep the school clean and to put all waste materials in the garbage cans and recycling cans provided.

Grade 6 Students Staying for Lunch

We provide students with the option of staying at school for lunch. Dedicated lunch supervision is offered to all students in grade 6. A lunch supervision form must be filled out and lunch supervision fees are charged to parents of all students who use lunch supervision services. This service provides students with the opportunity to practice social skills supported by caring adult supervision.

Lunch supervision at our school includes:

  • a safe and secure place for children to have lunch
  • a caring environment that fosters and maintains respectful, responsible behaviors
  • attendance will be taken and communication is made home if a student is absent
  • a drop-in service
  • access to the service, without a wait list

Each day we have teachers supervising during lunch throughout the school but only grade 6 students will be eligible to have specific lunch supervision, which will require that they sit in a dedicated place in the bistro for the first fifteen minutes of lunch. They are not allowed to leave the school property without a note from a parent.

If parents give permission for their grade 6 child to leave school at lunch, a written note must be provided to the office.

All parents of grade 6 students will be required to complete a form indicating their student’s lunch plan at the beginning of the school year.

For more information visit our Lunch Supervision page.

Most school messages are sent to parents through SchoolMessenger. It’s a mass communication tool that allows schools to easily and securely send email, phone and text messages to parents / guardians, independent students in a particular grade, class, school or area. Messages are sent to the parent contacts on file at your school.

To ensure you receive important information from your child’s school and the Calgary Board of Education, subscribe to school messages.

Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

You can find more information on the CBE school fees and waivers page.

Yellow School Bus Transportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2023-24 school year are created over the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

More information about 2023-24 transportation service levels and proposed fees are posted on the CBE website.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed. Should routes change or if qualified students are added to a route and the bus becomes overcrowded, conditional riders may be removed to accommodate these changes.

Learn more about transportation on the CBE website.

Calgary Transit

Some students from our school use Calgary Transit to get to and from school.

There are different Calgary Transit fares and passes options and purchasing locations. Students must carry proof of fare every time they use Calgary Transit. More information about fares and routes are available on the CBE website or the Calgary Transit website.

Families can access low-income monthly passes through the City of Calgary's Fair Entry Program. This program offers a streamlined application process for City subsidy programs, including reduced rates for transit passes. You can find more information about the program at www.calgary.ca/fairentry.

Calgary Transit has a “Plan a Trip” tool or families can also call 403-262-1000 for assistance with route planning and questions about Calgary Transit operations. Families do not need to register to use Calgary Transit, including school express routes.
