English

English Language Arts (ELA) is more than reading and writing. ELA involves:

  • Communicating effectively in various places for many different audiences and reasons
  • Selecting appropriate forms, structures and technology for a variety of contexts
  • Understanding, appreciating and creating a broad range of texts (including multi-media, visual, oral, and print)

The overall purpose of the English Language Arts program at Jack James is to develop competencies in reading, writing, thinking and communicating with the assistance of current technologies. These skills are crucial if students are to experience success in the world of work and/or further education.

Recommended Sequence of English Courses:

*It is strongly recommended that students take  English 20-2 before English 30-2.
