Message from the School Nurse

My name is Justine Lord and I will be the New School Nurse for James Fowler High School. I work in Public Health out of the Thornhill District Office for Alberta Health Services. I can be contacted by telephone at 403-944-7510, email at justine.lord@ahs.ca, or through the student service office. My role in the school will be health promotion services for both students and teachers.

Over the past two years James Fowler has had a Student Wellness Action Team (SWAT) that will continue to be promoted again this year. This is a student committee that works on health promotion initiatives for all students. In recent years the committee worked on a We Scare Hunger Project, a Mental Wellness Project, an Earth Day Project and the Smart Grad Project. The students partnered with the previous school nurse, school staff, Aspen Community Services, and the Boys and Girls Club to complete these activities. The SWAT team also collaborated with the school’s Leadership team for several events. I am hoping that students will come out at Club Day this upcoming school year and become SWAT team members! I am very eager to be working with staff, students and parents of James Fowler High School.

Alex Bus

The Alex bus brings health care directly to our students by visiting our school on Monday afternoons. Staff on the bus use a holistic, compassionate approach to provide physical, emotional, psychological and social support for our students. If you need to discuss with the nurse or staff on Alex Bus for any questions or concerns regarding physical, emotional or social health, please contact Student Services to make an appointment.
