English Language Learners

James Fowler has one of the largest English Language programs in the city of Calgary. We have 8 full time English language learning trained teachers in our department. We offer support with English as well as Canadian Studies., Math and Science, depending on our students’ needs.

Welcome to Calgary

If you are new to Calgary and speak a language other than English at home, there is a language test. Please call 403-777-7373 (ext. 0) to make an appointment for your test at Kingsland Centre (7430 5 St. SW). The assessment of listening, speaking, reading and writing helps your new school decide if your child would benefit from English language instruction and support.

Learn more about English Language Learning in the Calgary Board of Education.

Interpreters and Settlement Workers are available at The Kingsland Centre to help families new to living in Calgary.
