Social Studies 10

Students will explore multiple perspectives on the origins of globalization and the local, national and international impacts of globalization on lands, cultures, economies, human rights and quality of life. Students will examine the relationships among globalization, citizenship and identity to enhance skills for citizenship in a globalizing world. 

Some of the main areas of focus include: globalization and identity within Canada, imperialism and colonialism, current environmental issues, trade and the economy, and social issues such as poverty, human rights, and quality of life.

Students engage in cross-stream approaches to projects and classroom activities, simulations, cross-curricular projects, and problem based learning. Many forms of summative and formative assessment with a focus on competency based assessment are utilized.
