Extreme Weather
Students are expected to come to school dressed appropriately for cold or wet weather on a daily basis. We make a decision regarding indoor break and lunch prior to these times as weather often changes during the day. Decisions to keep children inside are based on the actual measured outside temperature at the school and on the reported wind chill factor from Environment Canada. When temperatures reach -20 Celsius or colder including the wind-chill factor, students will be kept inside for break or lunch recess.
Blue Day Procedures
Blue Day signs are hung on the outside doors to indicate that children are able to enter the school as soon as they arrive to keep out of the very cold or very wet conditions. On Blue Days, students will stay inside for lunch and recess as long as the conditions remain severe.
