Learning Commons at the CBE

Today’s learners cannot imagine life without the internet and supporting technology. The concept of the traditional library is changing to include technology, online tools and spaces for collaboration and exploration.

Learning Commons / Library

The Technological and Creative Hub of the School

The goal of the Learning Commons is to enable all students to be engaged thinkers and ethical citizens with an entrepreneurial spirit. The concept of a Learning Commons is a shift in thinking from a library as a physical space that is a repository of books, to an inclusive, flexible, learner-centred, physical and/or virtual space for collaboration, inquiry, imagination and creative play to expand and deepen learning.

Students are encouraged to come to the Learning Commons for inspiration and/or support for their assignments. If they require something to help them do their work, we can help them get it. We will have a fully stocked pantry in our 'Maker Space', as well as resources and books on a multitude of topics.

Is there a book you would like to see in our collection? Or maybe something you would like to see included in the pantry of our maker space? Please let us know!
