On Wednesday, September 11, at 7:00 pm in the music room, we will be holding a planning meeting for the AGM. This is for returning music parents to review information and procedures for the AGM. Any parents of a returning music student are welcome to join us and find out more about how you can participate in the Diefenbaker's Music Parents' Association.
JGD Music Parents Association AGM will be held immediately following “Parent as Partners” on Thursday, September 19th at (8:15pm) in the main gym. This is a mandatory meeting for parent/guardian(s) of music students as required by CBE for the off-site music camps. We have consolidated these meetings so parents can avoid having to come in again at another time - parent attendance signatures will be required. We appreciate your time.
Each year, the John G. Diefenbaker Music Parents Association (JGDMPA) raises money to help support the music programs here at Diefenbaker High School. These funds are used for student scholarships, concert programs, music awards evening, recordings and uniform upgrades.
Parents and students are encouraged to participate in the fundraising opportunities that are offered by JGDMPA to offset their own costs for the music program (camps, festivals, etc). Something new this year is that there is no mandatory $40 expected from every family, however fundraising and donations are encouraged from each student to achieve that same amount. The fundraising will be a ‘80/20’ split, meaning 80% raised will go into Student Credits and 20% will go towards JGDMPA. If needed to keep up with our financial responsibilities, JGDMPA will inform everyone if there is a fundraiser that is 100% for the Association.
