September 1st, 2020

Dear Keeler Families,

We are extremely excited to welcome back students to school tomorrow.  Just a reminder that our teachers have individually called each family to connect prior to tomorrow.  We were unable to reach a few families due to invalid numbers.  If that is the case, please call the school.  Below is the direct link to our re-entry plan with photos of designated meeting zones and door entries, our re-entry plans do not pertain to registered and confirmed HUB students.

https://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/Keeler/registration/register/back-to-school/Pages/default.aspx

In addition, please follow our school twitter account as videos and photos have and will continue to be posted to provide families an idea of what the re-entry protocols will look like at Keeler school

Hub learning confirmation was officially closed this morning.  Please note that staffing for the hub program is underway and we still do not know which of our teachers will be potentially working with the hub students.  For this reason, as a reminder, all our teacher will welcome their classes as “re-entry homeroom teachers."  We will provide an update as soon as we receive hub learning information.

Sincerely,

Kenny Yeung

Principal

2020-2021 Re-entry Plan (Kindergarten Message)

Dear Keeler Kindergarten Families,

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2020-2021 school year. To assist in adjusting to new rules, practices and procedures our school will welcome students back on a staggered schedule (Redstone community) and late entry/early dismissal (Forest Heights community).

All students grade 1-5 and our Enhanced Educational Support Class including Redstone community will start school on September 1st at regular school hours of 8:00am and dismissal at 2:30pm.

We are sharing the schedule with you now to help support your planning as the start of school approaches. More details will be provided to you around our specific Covid-19 measures and re-entry plans (including first day procedures) on August 28. In addition, the Kindergarten team will be individually calling families on August 27th and August 28th. We continue to wait for system updates to share with you but have only received confirmation on re-entry organization that we would like to share now. As we make plans for re-entry, we want to ensure we get this right and ensure our youngest learners in the building have a positive first experience. Just a reminder that parents and/or guardians will NOT be permitted into our building due to the Covid-19 visitor protocols.

Opening Staggered Days & Late Entry/Early Dismissal for Kindergarten students ONLY

Redstone Kindergarten Students

Attached is the Redstone community Kindergarten calendar which has our students starting on Tuesday September 2nd at regular hours with alternating full days. We will have a designated zone to ensure safe entry and opportunity for our Kindergarten students to learn the new protocols and processes in place in a stress-free environment. 2020-2021 Re-entry Message #2

Dear Keeler Families,

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the 2020-2021 school year. As we prepare to assist students and families in adjusting to new rules, practices and procedures, some of the larger CBE schools have decided to have a staggered schedule for the first week of school. Due to our relatively small school population and my confidence in our staff and leadership team in how prepared and organized we are with our re-entry plan; Keeler School WILL NOT have a staggered schedule. We will welcome all our grade 1-5 students including our Enhanced Educational Supports (EES) students on September 1st, 2020 with our regular bell times of 8:00am and 2:30pm dismissal.

Kindergarten Schedules

Kindergarten families have been sent information for their late entry and early dismissal time.

As communicated on Monday August 24th, we will send out a more detailed email on Friday August 28 pertaining to our health measures and re-entry plans.  We will also include specific instructions for our opening days so that you know where to meet your child's teacher in designated zones.

We hope you are enjoying your last days of holidays and are very excited to welcome our students back both face-to-face and online!

Sincerely,

Kenny Yeung

2020-2021 Re-entry Plan

Hello Keeler Families,

As we approach the start of a new year, we understand many of our families are waiting for information to be sent out regarding start up for the 2020-2021 school year.

Earlier today, we received the return to school protocols from the government and the CBE, and will be reviewing and making appropriate adjustments to fit with our school community and building when staff returns to work on August 27th.   We will be sharing this information out with families in a detailed letter through school messenger on August 28th.

In addition, parents should expect a phone call from their child's homeroom teacher by August 28th, welcoming them to a new school year, as well as explaining what drop off will look like on the first day of school.

In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

Please note that our office will re-open on Thursday August 27th, if you have any questions regarding registration please contact the office during business hours 8:00am - 3:30pm

Regards,

Kenny Yeung

Principal, Keeler School

June 5th Message

Good Afternoon Keeler Families,

With the on going circumstances around COVID-19, the Calgary Board of Education has decided to release student report cards online through the MyCBE PowerSchool account. Paper copies will no longer be provided to families.

We are reaching out to ensure that our families have created a MyCBE PowerSchool account so they can access their student’s report cards.

If you have not created a PowerSchool account for your child please follow the instructions attached below or call the office at 403-777-8180 during office hours. Further details will be provided to parents on how and when they can access/view their child’s report card.

On May 28th we provided an online engagement survey to allow families to offer feedback, below we have provided a brief summary.

Learn and Share | CBE and school budget and school fees information and online engagement

We know we make better decisions to support student learning when we build understanding and work together. That’s why we’ll be sharing information about the CBE budget and how we develop our own school budget and establish school fees for some services and activities through an upcoming online engagement opportunity.

During the online engagement opportunity, you had the opportunity to:

  1. Learn
    • Where funding for the CBE comes from and how it is spent
    • About the Resource Allocation Method (RAM) used to fund schools
    • How we estimate, then finalize, RAM for our school
    • How we establish school fees for some activities and services
  1. Participate
    • Share your perspectives on school budget and school fees

Keeler 2020-2021 School Budget Fees Presentation .pdf

Keeler Staff will also be holding a farewell parade for all students and will be on June 24th, further details will be provided.

We would also like to thank everyone who participated in the kindergarten online survey for next year, results are posted on our website for viewing.

Thank you,

Kenny Yeung
