How to Register

Kindergarten Registration 2021/22

Our school continues to be full and will need to follow the lottery and waitlist process this year. However, due to COVID restrictions Kindergarten registration will look different this year.

Parents will be required to print and complete the attached registration form Kindergarten Registration Form (Canadian Citizen)

In addition to the registration form parents will be required to attach the following documents:

  • Photocopy of your child’s birth certificate (preferred) or passport
  • Photocopy of Canadian Citizenship (if applicable)
  • Photocopy of one parent or guardian driver's license (proof of address)
  • Photocopy of a utility bill e.g. Enmax or Direct Energy (proof of address)
  • Photocopies of assessments or IPP’s (if applicable)

These items must be stapled together in a package and/or in an envelope and dropped off to Ken Taylor School starting January 11 at 8:30 am. Once the packages have been quarantined for 72 hours (about 3 days) they will be reviewed by our staff and entered in the lottery. If your package is incomplete or we require additional information you will be contacted at this time.

Registration will close on February 9, 2021 at 12:00 pm and the lottery will take place at noon on February 10, 2021.  You will be contacted via email within 10 business days with lottery results.

If your child is not a Canadian citizen you must contact the CBE Welcome Centre to register your child Welcome Center Information .  Once you have received your documentation from the Welcome Center you will be required to complete the above steps.

What School is Next

Every child in Calgary has a designated school based on their home address and the program they choose. If you are going to be attending your designated school in your current program, registration is done automatically through your current school’s main office. To find out what your designated school is, use our Find a School tool. You can apply to attend any school, even if it is not your designated one. Each principal determines if their school has capacity to accept out-of-boundary students, usually after enrolment numbers are determined. For more information, contact the school you are interested in attending. Transportation services may not be available if you are attending a non-designated school.

Visit the CBE website to see when other schools are having open houses, should you want to learn more about your next school.
