Why Alternative Programs?

- Alberta Programs of Study are developed through the Montessori philosophy, methodology and materials
- Language Arts

- Multi aged cohorts where possible to promote long lasting relationships and peer mentorship
- Cosmic Education with a focus on interconnectedness
- Peace Education to promote stewardship of community and social responsibility

Registration Information
Registration Timeline
January 16 - Registration opens. Registration submitted submitted digitally to the school (not first come, first served)
February 14 - Registration closes at noon
February 15 - Lottery of registrations
March 2 - Deadline for acceptance email to be sent to successful lottery candidates. Families have until March 16 to accept/decline the placement after receiving the email
Registration / Lottery Process
Priority 1 - Siblings attending Killarney during 2023-24 school year and living in walk zone
Priority 2 - No siblings attending Killarney and family lives in walk zone
- Siblings attending Killarney during 2023-24 school year and family lives outside walk zone
Priority 3 - Family lives in Killarney designated attendance area (see map on school profile)
Priority 4 - Non-residents of CBE (see registration form for details) The lottery process is used where a program
is oversubscribed
Registration / Transportation Considerations
- K 6 yellow bus transportation provided following CBE congregated stop guidelines for alternative programs
- Parents pay an annual fee for CBE yellow bus service 2023-2024
- Congregated stops are reviewed annually and informed by pre-registration for transportation, online
through MyCBE/PowerSchool - Congregated stops may not be within walking distance and alternate arrangements may be required to
