Important Dates

We follow the CBE traditional calendar. The calendar sets common start and end days, non-instructional days and holidays. For our school’s additional non-instructional days, late entries, early dismissal days and events, see our school calendar page.​

The Calgary Board of Education continues to plan for the health measures that may be in place for the next school year. More details will be shared with families before the first day of classes.

First Day of Classes

Kindergarten

Staggered Entry for Kindergarten children on Sept. 1 and 2, 2021. (Schedule will be emailed by July 15) 

AM Kindergarten classes begin on Friday, Sept. 3, 2021.

AM & PM Kindergarten classes attend on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2021. 

Grades 1 - 6 

Tuesday September 1 - First Day of School 

Signage will be posted at each doorway to indicate where students are to meet their teachers. 
Note: Yellow school bus service for Grades K- 6 begins on Wednesday, Sept. 1.

Monday - Thursday                                 
Students can enter the school starting at 8:00 AM (Soft Entry) 
Grades 1 to 6    Kindergarten 
Morning           8:10 AM – 11:40 AM         AM Classes – 8:10 AM – 11:00 AM 
Lunch Break    11:40 AM – 12:25 PM         PM Classes – 11:55 AM – 2:45 PM

School Supplies

We supply all the basic classroom supplies students will need for their daily work. Special projects or inquiries may need additional materials to be brought from home.  

All students will need the following items, labelled, for school each day: 

  • indoor shoes appropriate for active play in physical education, with non-marking soles, 
  • backpack, reusable water bottle and lunch kit, 
  • a snack and lunch (not on Fridays) each day.

Noon Supervision

We provide a 4-day a week Noon Supervision program at Lake Bonavista School. Information on lunchroom supervision can be found on our Noon Supervision page.

Do You Have a MyCBE / PowerSchool Parent Account?

Parents who have not already done so, must create an account in MyCBE / PowerSchool to:

  • Pay fees or apply for a waiver

  • Register for transportation and noon supervision

  • View student progress

To create a new account, go to www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe and click on Create Parent Account. You will need to have your child(ren)’s CBE Student ID Number and use your email on file at the school.​

​Fees and Waivers

School fees will be charged to families starting in October. Online fee payment is the simplest and most convenient way to pay school fees. Parents can use their online account to pay fees or apply for a waiver at: www.cbe.ab.ca/mycbe.

​​Yellow School Bus Tra​nsportation

Yellow school bus routes for the 2021-22 school year are created o​ver the summer and based on the addresses submitted before the pre-registration deadline in June. Transportation continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing stop with available space. Processing times could be up to six weeks at the beginning of the school year due to volume.

Your bus stop location and time will be available in your MyCBE / PowerSchool account by mid-August.

Conditional riders can also register using MyCBE / PowerSchool. Applications will be considered after eligible riders registrations have been processed.
