Back to School Information

Hello Lakeshore Families,
We are already anticipating the start of year two at Lakeshore as we prepare to open for the 2023-2024 school year. There will be a lot more information coming your way, but here is what you need to know heading into summer break:

Most of what you need to know is currently available on the Back to School Page on our website. This includes our calendar, bell times and links to transportation. Please check out this page and return regularly for updates.

Quick Q+A

Q1. When will I find out my child's teacher?
A1. An email will come to you in late August (likely August 29) from your child's homeroom teacher. That email will contain instructions on where to meet on the first day of school on August 31st.

Q2. When will my child find out their complementary courses and schedule?
A1. Each child will be provided with a hard copy of their schedule on the first day of school. Please note that while students were able to select preferred complementary courses, they may not end up with all choices. There will be two complementary courses each semester for a total of four. Our goal is to ensure each student gets 2 of 4 preferred courses with a hope for 3 or more.

Q3. Is the office open during the summer?
A3. The office is closed at 11:00 AM on June 30th and will reopen for mornings starting on Monday June 28 and a return to full-time hours of 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM on August 31.

Q4. Am I required to provide school supplies?
A4. Student in grade 6 are provided with supplies based on the materials fee, but students in grade 7-9 do need to come to school with pre-purchased supplies. The list of required supplies is available HERE.

Q5. What is the Lunchtime Routine at Lakeshore?
A5. Students in grade 6 are supervised at lunch, unless they go home daily. Grade 6 families must register their child for the program through their MyCBE account (info HERE). Grade 7-9 students have Open Campus privileges, and therefore not specifically supervised. They can eat inside in one of our common areas, but are asked to leave the building for a fresh air break midway through the period. Many students will leave campus at this time. All Lakeshore students are eligible to participate in our hot lunch program offered through Heathy Hunger. The program will begin on September 5 and parents will be notified when selections are open.

That should be the essential information for now. Thank you for sending amazing kids to Lakeshore and we look forward to seeing everyone on August 31.
Kind Regards,Ian Fero,Principal
