School Property

We take great pride in keeping a tidy school; both inside and out. We ask all our students to be good citizens by putting garbage and recycling where it belongs, and helping to keep our classrooms and playground clean.

As a new school, we want to take steps to ensuring the school looks as good as it does on opening day.

Compost, Recycle and Waste

Students are expected to do their part in helping to keep our school and community neat and tidy. This includes picking up after themselves at all times and using the garbage cans that are located in the school and on the school grounds. Students are expected to participate in the school's extensive recycling program. The stations include bins for recycling (blue), refundable beverage containers (yellow), organics (green), and garbage (black). These bins have been colour-coded to match the City of Calgary totes.

It is expected that students will follow the protocols for recycling in all areas of the school including the playground.

It is expected that students respect their school and treat it appropriately. The CBE may require the parent or guardian to replace or pay for any school property destroyed, broken or damaged by their child.

Playground Rules & Expectations

As a school, we consistently review our playground rules and expectations with our students as needed throughout the school year. Please take a moment to review these with your child(ren):

  • If it looks unsafe, we will ask you to stop - school staff will make this determination
  • Rocks and snow stay on the ground
  • Stay inside school boundaries at all times during school hours
  • All students can play at all playgrounds and designated play areas

Use of School Equipment, Open Spaces & Play Areas

Students are expected to use school and recreational equipment appropriately. Students are expected to play safe games that will not potentially endanger themselves or others. Students are expected to respect the rights of participants in organized games and not to disrupt the activity.

No Dogs Allowed

The City of Calgary bylaw 23M89 forbids dogs from entering school grounds.

Smoking / Vaping

There is no smoking / vaping permitted on school grounds at any time by any one. This includes the sidewalks, fields and pathways adjacent to the school. Any student caught smoking / vaping at school is subject to CBE Progressive Discipline. Please see the Behaviour tab under Culture and Environment.
