Grade
9 High School Transition Information
The Calgary Board of Education offers different programming options for High School, and our Student Service / Admin and Teaching Teams are here to help you out. Please see the Career and Technology Studies and Knowledge & Employability Occupational Pathways by High School Facilities document for a complete listing of programs and the High Schools who offer them. Transfer information can be found HERE.
Current Grade 9 students are automatically registered at their designated high school for the 2023-24 school year based on the home address on file with the CBE. Guidance Councillors and staff members from each designated high school have begun to work with students on the registration process.
Transfer Request Information
If a Grade 9 student is interested in attending a high school other than their designated school, families can request a transfer using the online high school transfer form. This online form will be accessible through our Transfer webpage and will help ensure a clear, consistent and equitable process for all students.
The 2023-2024 online transfer form is accessible on February 1, 2023. High school transfer requests must be submitted by March 15, 2023, to be considered.
Students may request a transfer for one of the following reasons:
- To enroll in an education program not offered at their designated school (I.e. International Baccalaureate Programme and Advanced Placement)
- To take a sequence of courses up to the 30 level that are not offered at the designated school (I.e. cosmetology, welding and fabrication, culinary arts, or auto mechanics)
- To enroll as a full-time online student with CBe-Learn
Families will receive notification of the transfer decision via
email on April 5, 2023. For
further information regarding CBE high school programming please visit
our Detailed High School Course Guide located
on the High School Information webpage.
