Our school offers options to suit our students’ unique learning needs, interests and abilities. All of our courses follow the Alberta Programs of Study

Complementary Courses

Complementary courses are one of the most exciting aspects of the Middle School experience. At Lakeshore School, our Grade 5 and 6 students will be introduced to complementary courses in a rotating wheel which will include Music, Drama, Culinary Arts, Digital Media and Engineering & Construction. They will not need to select any complementary courses.

Our Grade 7, 8 and 9 students will have the opportunity to select preferred complementary courses. You can see our complete selection of complementaries along with the course description and fees using the link on this page (right-hand side on computer, bottom of page on mobile device).

For September 2022, course selection will be open from May 16 (starting at 9:00 AM) to May 23 (ending at midnight). Instructions on how to register are also included as a link on this page. Please allow yourself some time to make the selections and follow along with the guide. We use MyCBE / PowerSchool for course registration which is the same system as other Calgary Board of Education schools, so the process may be familiar to some.

We will attempt to satisfy complementary course choice for students who register at Lakeshore School after the selection dates, but choices may be limited as many classes will have been set and full by that point.
