Complementary Courses

Complementary Courses are one of the most exciting aspects of the Middle School experience as they introduce, and develop, a skill set that complements the program of studies explored in other areas.

At Lakeshore School, our Grade 6 students will explore Complementary Courses in a rotating wheel, which includes Music, Drama, Culinary Arts, Art, Digital Media, Engineering & Construction, and Fashion & Textiles. Gr. 6 students will not need to select any Complementary Courses for the 2023-24 school year, however a General Complementary Course Fee may apply.

Our Grade 7, 8, and 9 students take 4 Complementary Courses a year, with students indicating 5 preferred courses from the ones offered.  There is no guarantee that students will receive their preferred choice, however we work hard to have every student in as many of their preferred courses as possible. The 2023-24 Complementary Courses, along with the course description and fees, are available on our school website. (See link below on mobile device or on right side of page on computer)

Current Lakeshore students in Grade 6, 7 & 8 will be making their Complementary Course requests at school this Thursday, April 20 & Friday, April 21, 2023.  Please have a discussion with your child and review the courses available to them, the description of the courses, and have them create a list of their preferred 5, so they are ready for the selection task.

Thank you again for your continued support of the work we do at Lakeshore School.

Lakeshore was proud to host a wonderful group of visiting teachers from Spain 🇪🇸 today. Their visit was part of a collab between the CBE and SMART Tech, and the visit was mutually beneficial. It was great to share our knowledge together. #LakeshoreLoyal @yyCBEdu @SMART_Tech https://t.co/X0KrdqrB2W
