We take safety and security seriously. It is important that we maintain a safe and caring community so that learning can take place.
Visitors & Volunteers
Our school is a closed campus. All visitors and volunteers must report directly to the main office to sign-in. Students should not invite friends to visit the school. Individuals found on school property who do not have legitimate business with the school and who have not registered in the main office may be charged with trespassing while on school property.
Student Identification Cards (ID)
ID Cards and Lanyards are part of Pearson’s safety protocols. Our proximity to the Village Square could result in individuals who are not students or staff at Pearson trespassing in the school.
Student IDs on lanyards with their ID visible at all times when they are in the school. Student IDs are required to sign out resources and must be produced as proof of identification at exams, to obtain report cards and for admission to special school events such as athletic home games.
Note: Student ID may also be required by Calgary Transit to access their services.
Lost or Stolen ID Card
If an ID card is lost or stolen, students are responsible to pick-up a replacement at the office for a cost of $5.00.
Accidents
The details of any accident are to be reported immediately, either to a teacher or to the Main Office for appropriate documentation and/or communication.
Student Searches
In the event that school safety and security is a concern administration has the right to complete searches of student lockers, student property or personal belongings at any time.
School Resource Officer
The role of the Resource Officer is to provide guidance and act as a legal resource for teachers, students, parents/guardians and the community at large. Part of this role is to encourage communication and greater understanding among young people and the Calgary Police Service.
