School Property

We take great pride in keeping a tidy school; both inside and out. We ask all our students to be good citizens by putting garbage and recycling where it belongs, and helping to keep our classrooms and school grounds clean.

Restricted Activities

  • Skateboarding, longboarding and throwing snowballs are not permitted on school property
  • Smoking, the use of tobacco products or substitutes inside the school or on school property is prohibited

Smoking (Admin Regulation 4024)

Smoking and the use of e-cigarettes are not permitted anywhere within the school buildings or on school property. Students must also respect the property of neighbours in the community including the Genesis Centre.

Section 2 of the Prevention of Youth Tobacco Act states: “No person under the age of 18 years may possess or smoke or otherwise consume tobacco products in a public place.” Violation of the smoking policy could result in community service, home suspension and/or a fine.

Trespassing on School Property

Students, parents and visitors should be aware that Section 21 of the School Act states that no person shall:

a) Disturb or interrupt the proceedings of a school.

b) Loiter or trespass in a school building or on property owned by a school board.

All parents and visitors must report to the office. LBP students visiting another school without permission of school authorities may result in trespass charges being issued. Similarly, nonstudents who loiter around NMHS will be charged under Section 21, 1, C of the School Act.
