| As the principal of the school, I am overjoyed by the compassion and support for each and every student who walks through our doors. This September we are expecting a busy start up with many new students, new staff, and new babies and children.
This fall we are hoping to invite you and your families to centre-wide events to introduce ourselves and welcome everyone into the Louise Dean Family. Please check out the calendar on the left hand side to see other events that will be happening this fall. Often we add additional items so please check our school calendar on a regular basis for updates.
The doors of Louise Dean School are always open and we welcome input from students, parents and our community. We are committed to working with our students and families to support our learners to complete high school and transition to the next stage of their lives.

Semester 2 seems to have gone by in a blink of an eye! During this time, we have had many successes and lots to celebrate. Several students completed their high school requirements and will now enter post secondary or have found employment. Others completed a successful semester of courses and will now move forward to new classes. COVID-19 continues to have its toll on us but we have persevered and made it through another school year. As we finish the school year and look forward to summer, I wish you all the best. Please continue to be safe and cautious. I know this year has been tough. COVID-19 caused us to “do school" is a very different way. As people become vaccinated and our environment becomes a little safer, we are hopeful school will return to a more normal setting. We are hopeful we will be able to offer you school experiences that allow us to celebrate in person, make changes to your timetables and share a meal together. Just be together! Please take care of yourselves and each other. Relax and enjoy summer the best way you can and we will see you in September! Helen Proud Principal of Louise Dean School

| Dear Louise Dean Families I am looking forward to welcoming our school community to the 2020-21 school year. I want to assure you we are doing everything possible to ensure the health and safety of all our community members. As you are aware on July 21, Education Minister Adriana LaGrange announced that all schools across the province will return to classes under scenario one – in-school classes resume (near normal with health measures). In response, plans are well underway in our school to welcome our community of students and their children, as we adhere to current health guidelines. CBE's Scenario 1 Information can be found on our website and outlines the measures we are taking to provide for the health and safety of our students. Please refer to this document for detailed information on health measures, physical set-up of schools, cleaning of schools, daily operation of schools and transportation. The actions described in the document follow the guidelines provided by Alberta Education's K-12 School Re-entry COVID-19 information: Guidance for schools re-entry scenario 1. We continue to refine information in our re-entry planning based on provincial and CBE guidance. Please visit our school website https://school.cbe.ab.ca/school/louisedean/ for information on the actions and processes that are being applied to the specific context of our school. Sincerely,
Helen Colbourne Principal

| I hope everyone is safe and well in your
family. This is certainly a difficult time for all of us as we work through
what our “new normal” is for ourselves and our loved ones. Teachers and staff
are here to support you with your school work and I would encourage you to
reach out so you can finish the school year on a positive note. We know it
isn’t easy, but we are all here to help!
For those who are wondering if Louise Dean
Centre is where they need to be next year, please know we are welcoming
students for the Fall 2020 semester! Are you or do you know a young woman,
under the age of 20, who is parenting and/or expecting a child and is working
towards high school completion? Louise Dean Centre offers a variety of
supports, including high school academics and career courses, parenting and
prenatal classes, counselling supports, access to nurses, a doctor, dietitians
and early childhood educators for moms, dads, father figures and co-parents. If
you are interested in learning more about our centre, please contact Candice by
phone or text (403-809-4185) or email, cnfruin@cbe-ab.ca or call the school at 403-777-7630 and we would be happy to
answer your questions.
