Hello Mahogany Families,
"We are a team, parents, teachers and children working together for a greater good."
Today, I looked up 'Parent Teacher Conference quotes' looking for some inspiration as we head into Teacher Led Conference week. There were many quotes like, “TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More", and “Parents and Teachers who work together are unstoppable!". These positive team-based quotes were also peppered with quotes like, “When it came to parent teacher conferences, I was always embarrassed for what my parents might hear about me" and “I was always so worried about what the teacher was going to tell me about my child, I did not have good experiences at conferences when I was a kid – It feels like I am going to be in trouble as I head into the meeting!". These last two comments reminded me that kids and parents sometimes get nervous about Parent Teacher Conferences, maybe they are reminded of a negative experience they had as a child, maybe they are nervous that the teacher knows something that they don't... Parents put a lot of pressure on themselves and sometimes they get nervous too. Students get nervous too! Some love to share their work and some worry about what to say. We know that as teachers prepare for you to meet with them, they work with your children and spend a great deal of time gathering work samples, displaying work, documenting their learning journeys as they get ready to share, share, share all the info they can to ensure that circle of support for students is in place. We know how much work goes into preparing for conferences – it really is a celebration of students' learning, and we can't wait to celebrate with you!
Teacher Led ConferencesWe look forward to seeing you all this week and sharing in your child (ren)'s Learning journey!
November 23 3:30pm-7:45pm
November 24 8:00am-12:00pm
Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians and teachers are able to connect face-to-face and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success. This round of conferences will be "teacher led" where teachers will have an opportunity to share the learning that has been happening in their classrooms and how your child is doing. Please also Join us Coffee with Tracy and Christine|
Join us on November 24 at 10:00am in the Gathering space for a chance to connect around school issues.
