Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Traffic Safety Reminders from The City of Calgary

The City wants to remind and encourage anyone who is driving children to school to operate their vehicles safely and responsibly. Parents and guardians are reminded not park where it’s prohibited during drop off and pick up times, such as blocking crosswalks, laneways and private driveways.

Pick up and drop off times can get quite busy. Give yourself extra time to navigate safely around schools, whether you are walking, wheeling, or driving. For those who drive, help alleviate congestion by parking a block or two away and walking in, wherever possible.

Talk to your kids about safe travel practices like using crosswalks with patrols, looking all ways before crossing the street and not jaywalking across the roadways as a shortcut.

Calgary Police Service | Traffic Safety Reminders

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

The safety of students and other drivers is a priority to the Calgary Police Service. We have received concerns from community members about some unsafe driving around the school and we are hoping you can assist us in making this area as safe as possible for everyone.

School start and end times can make the roads very congested. To keep children safe, it is very important everyone obeys the laws as defined in Alberta's Traffic Safety Act.

Patrols

Patrols are out at 7:45 AM if the temperature is warmer than -20.

Please note that no patrollers will be out during the lunch hour. If your child requires assistance to cross Maryvale Drive in front of the school, please call the school and arrangements will be made for them to be assisted by staff.

It is important that no students are dropped off or picked up from our school parking lots. These areas are designated to school and Area Office staff only. Please park on the street and use the crosswalk as you bring your children to school. Additionally, please be mindful of our school patrollers. Our patrollers are trained in assisting students and adults in our community in crossing the road safely. Please note that NO PATROLLERS ARE OUT DURING THE LUNCH HOUR. If your child requires assistance to cross Maryvale Drive in front of the school, please call the school. Arrangements will be made for them to be assisted by staff. Lastly, please abide by the rules of the road. Do not park in crosswalk zones or do U-turns in front of the school.

Our students’ safety is of utmost importance.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Zones

Students and their family members are expected to obey the posted bus zones areas in the front of the school. This way students riding the charter transportation can safely get off and on in front of the school. It is also unsafe to stop directly in front of the crosswalks.

Student Entry Points

Students are assigned entry and exit doors. If students arrive to school late they are to proceed directly to the front doors of the school for entry as the outside doors lock.

Parents DO NOT USE the parking lot to drop off or pick up students. The parking lot is for staff only

Before & After School Care

A before and after school care program is being offered by Adventures Childcare. More information on the Getting to School page.
