About Us

Did You Know?

Marshall Springs offers a full range of programs described in the Alberta Education Program of Studies. The basis for a good education is sound academic preparation.  In addition to the core subject areas of Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies, Middle School years are a time to sample a few exploratory areas. In this regard we offer a range of complementary subjects at different grade levels including Foods, Art, Ceramics, Music, Band, French, Fashion, Drama, Construction, Technology, Leadership, Film, Photography, and Outdoor Education.

Marshall Springs offers an award winning comprehensive Health and Physical Education program for all students. Our students participate in one hour of Phys Ed/Health each day. Opportunities exist during the lunch hours to be active with our intramural program and drop in gym time (Restricted due to Covid).  For the serious athlete, there is a broad selection of interscholastic sports teams in grades 6 through 9 provided by The Calgary Middle School Amateur Athletics: Cross Country, Volleyball, Wrestling, Basketball, Badminton, and Track and Field (Restricted due to Covid).

At Marshall Springs School, no matter what grade, teachers are striving to help students meet the same learning targets.  We call these targets the Essential Student Learning Outcomes or ESLOs. We want the result of each learning endeavor to be aligned with the ESLOs.  This helps teachers know that students are reaching their true potential and are growing in their abilities.

One way we support this is through our twice a week Springs Time sessions. During Springs Time, students are invited to small group time with teachers that targets ESLOs of concern.

We are fortunate to have Mrs. Orr working as a Student Services Teacher in our main office. Her role is similar to what parents might remember from having a Guidance Counsellor or Resource Teacher when they went to school. Mrs. Orr assists students with challenges related to peer relations as well as feelings of anxiety around school and life transitions.

Throughout the year, Marshall Springs students are given the opportunity to help the Evergreen Community and the larger Calgary community through activities and events such as waste and recycling initiatives, food and clothing drives and various charity donations.

The learning commons (library) is a very important place for learning in our school. It is designed to support your learning through print material, computers, ipads and a green screen room.  Teachers take students to the library on a regular basis so that they can understand and experience everything the library has to offer. Our library is staff to ensure that students are always supported.
