Alberta Education Survey Mailed to Parents/Legal Guardians of Grades 4, 7 and 10 Students
Dear Parents & Guardians,The first week back from Spring Break was very busy at MLS! Highlights from each grade can be found on your child's Google Classroom and many teachers have included photos and vidoes of the learning happening each week. Some highlights from this week include:Grade 4 students participated in a virtual field trip with the Glenbow Museum to learn about the affects the fur trade had on the Indigenous people and more about the different nations of North America and Alberta. Grade 3 students started their Hearing and Sound unit in science, which includes Mr. Rushton visiting classes as guest sciencist! He has visited Mrs. Huurman's class this week, and will be visiting other in the weeks to come.Grade 2 students started their Boats and Buoyancy unit in science. This week they used a Cartesian diver to begin developing an understanding of buoyancy.Grade 1 students have been learning about how Indigenous communities are integral to Canada's character and are making connections to the Indigenous and diverse cultures found in our communities.Kindergarten students have been learning new dances in physical education. Ask them to show you a dance they have learned! They have also be learning how to measure items with non-standards units (e.g. blocks).EES students have been busy building paper mache volcanos and learning about the plant life cycle. School RequestIf your family plans to move out of our designate school zone before the beginning of the 2021-22 school year, please inform the office as soon as possible. We have began planning for the upcoming school year, and it is important that we are using accurate enrollment numbers. As mentioned in prior messaging, families who have moved out of our designated school zone need to register at their new community school. Sincerely,Dayna McComish

“The feedback will help us refine the draft K-6 curriculum before it is implemented across the province. All elementary students will be learning from the new curriculum in 2022-23.” https://t.co/YulPHp7Iyc
