APRIL REMINDERS

We were very happy at the school to greet our students back from spring break. They had lots of stories about their break and seem ready and eager to be back to their school routines.

COVID-19 Update
We understand that parents have concerns about the increasing number of cases due to the variant in Alberta. We continue to be in Scenario 1 (Face to Face learning) as mandated by Alberta Health Services and Alberta Education, therefore, students are expected to attend school. At MTS we continue to practice all required safety and sanitation measures as outlined by AHS. The school has closed the water fountains in the building so please ensure that your child has a water bottle with them daily to ensure hydration. The water bottles can be refilled in the classroom.
In addition to safety at school, every parent is required to review the COVID -19 symptom checklist each day before sending students to school. This is best way to keep us all healthy at school each day.

Learning and Playing Outside
Mr. V. will be taking the students outside regularly for PE. Students also go outside daily at the recess and lunch break. We hope to be doing a lot more movement and overall learning outside. We know how important it is to get fresh air and exercise! Please ensure your child is dressed for the weather each day, so they can be comfortable participating in outdoor activities.

Student Absences and Lates
Please remember to report your child’s absence to our school office on our absence line to ensure that we record the reason for absence accurately. Please report the absence before the morning bell time (8:00 AM) to assist us recording absences and to avoid a call from the school. If your child is being picked up early, please inform your child’s teacher AND the office.

.Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey
Parents of students in grade 4 should have received an AEA survey in the mail that can be completed online with the random access code mailed to you. This year’s survey is a pilot that will include questions measuring both the required Alberta Education Assurance Measures and the Accountability Pillar survey measures.
Children in grade 4 will also be completing a student version of the survey here at the school during our regular instructional hours. All surveys are anonymous and the results will be shared next fall at our School Council meeting and on the school's website.
As always, we want to thank our families once again for your support throughout this unprecedented school year. Please reach out if you have anything you would like to share or discuss.
