Personal Belongings

Students often want to bring personal possessions to school for play or sharing. We discourage students from this practice as we cannot guarantee that these items will not be broken or lost at school. In addition, many children have difficulty concentrating on their school work if they have a toy or other personal item with them, specially in class. These items also can cause issues on the playground at recess and lunch.

We ask parents and guardians for your assistance in ensuring that your child(ren) do not bring such items to school.

Wheels

Bicycles, roller blades, scooters and skateboards must not be used on school property during school hours.

Bikes are to be placed in racks provided and locked as a safeguard against theft. Although the school has bike racks located on the school premises, please be informed that the school does not accept responsibility for loss, damage or theft of bicycles.

Student Cell Phones

Does your child have a cell phone for safety as they walk to and from home? Please talk to them about school expectations regarding its storage and use at school.

  • The school is not responsible for loss or damage of cell phones.
  • Cell phones are to be kept in their backpacks.
  • Cell phones are not to be used at school, in building or on the playground during school hours unless required or requested by the teacher for educational purposes.
  • Students using cell phones during class hours without teacher permission will have their phone confiscated and held for parents to pick up. Every classroom has a telephone for use as directed by the teacher. In an urgent situation when you need to speak with your child, contact the school office main line and we will summon your child to the school office to speak with you.

Electronic Devices

Please note that the staff are not responsible for maintaining the safety of student owned devices but we do work to provide safe places for students to secure their devices when they are not being used. It is up to each student to ensure the devices are placed in these secure locations within the classroom or office. Students are required to leave all devices inside the school during recess and lunch recess. Please label all devices with your child’s name.

Lost and Found

Midnapore School is not responsible for student’s lost items. Any items such as clothing, backpacks, books, water bottles, etc. are found, students and staff make every effort to store these items in the Lost and Found bin. If your child is missing an item, please encourage him/her to check the Lost and Found bin. At the end of each school year, all remaining articles will be sent to a charitable organization.
