Principal's Message

November 27th, 2020

Good Afternoon Midnapore Families,
We hope that this email finds you well.
We have posted a new video to each of the Google Classrooms.  Please spend time over the weekend watching the video with your child.  It highlights specific work done in our classrooms connected to literacy development as well as student wellness.  There are clips from students in Kindergarten, Grade 3 and Grade 6 sharing their work and understanding as well as pictures from all grades.  After watching the video ask your child about key words or terms they have learned recently (encouraging them to use it in a sentence) as well as if they have used our school new sensory tools.
As was announced earlier this week, from January 4th to January 8th students in grades K – 6 will engage in school online.  It will be essential that you and your child are able to log into their Google Classroom during this week.  Please ensure that you know your child’s login credentials and password prior to Winter Break.  If you do not know how to access your child’s Google Classroom please contact the teacher directly.  More direction will be provided leading up to Winter Break about what families can expect that week to look like for their child(ren).
On Thursday January 7th we will be hosting a virtual Open House at 6:30 PM.  During this event we will showcase our Mandarin and Regular Programs.  Please encourage new or potential families that you know to mark this date in their calendars.
A huge shout-out to all families for continuing to be diligent about keeping their child(ren) home when they are sick and picking them up immediately from school if they do become ill during the day.  This has been an enormous help in ensuring that students, staff and all families stay safe and healthy.  Thank you!
The Province has recently updated the “COVID-19 Alberta Health Daily Checklist” and “Student Illness” Checklists.  Please see the attached documents to familiarize yourself with the new requirements.  They outline what families are responsible to do if a child(ren) is exhibiting symptoms.
Please remember to send your child with a clean face mask every day. As well, we are not permitted to hand out cutlery to students.  If your child’s snack or lunch requires a spoon or fork please send it with them.
Monday November 30th is the last day to hand in Picture Re-Take orders at the school.  Following this date, orders must be placed online.
December 4th - No School for students, Professional Learning Day for teachers
January 4th – January 8th - All Kindergarten to Grade 6 students learning online.
January 7th at 6:30 PM – Virtual Open House
Thank you to all the families who joined our virtual School Council Meeting on Tuesday night.  Our next School Council meeting will be held virtually on Jan. 26th at 6:30 PM.
