Traffic Safety

Ensuring our students get to school safely is everyone’s responsibility. Please be mindful of crosswalks, parking rules and speed limits when you are near our schools, especially during the morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal times.

Parking & Drop-Off

We understand that the cul-de-sac can become quite busy and hectic but the safety of our students remains the priority. Please remember the cul-de-sac is a drop off zone and is not meant for parking. If you need to come into the school, please park further down the cul-de-sac, on Midlake Blvd, or across the street to allow easy drop off and pick up for our students.

Traffic and Patrols

I have been in contact with the City of Calgary road department over the summer to discuss the changes in traffic flow on Midlake Blvd in front of the school. They have advised me that we will be having our crosswalk repainted and also our crossing lights replaced later this month. With that in mind, and to best ensure student safety, we have been advised to delay having our students serve as patrols to monitor this crosswalk until the changes are complete.

If you are driving your child to school and then parking and crossing the street, we remind you to please cross safely at the crosswalk. We hope the changes being made to the crosswalk area will help to improve the safety for everyone around our school property.

Staff Parking Lot

Please be advised all parking stalls have been designated as staff parking. Please do not enter, stop or park in the parking lot during the school day. An empty spot at any time during the day does not mean a stall is available for non-staff parking. If you choose to “just be a minute” in our lot, you may be preventing someone who works with your child in the school from getting to their job on time.

Students Arriving Late

Students arriving at school other than entry times must use the front doors and report to the main office for a late slip.

Student Supervision

The staff provides playground supervision at the following times throughout the school day:

  • Morning 7:45 – 8:00 AM
  • Recess 9:40 – 9:55 AM
  • Lunch 12:00 –12:15 PM

There is no supervision provided after school. In order to provide maximum safety for students, we ask that they go home directly after school. Students who go home for lunch should not return until 12:00 PM at the earliest.
